English Premier League: Chelsea make up for stumbling over Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea lost their opening game last week at home to Stamford Bridge against Burnley 2-3, in a match that saw the dismissal of two of their players. However, the Blue Club was replaced in the best possible way by beating London rivals in a match at the famous Wembley Stadium in the English capital, which Tottenham have adopted as a temporary stadium pending the completion of the new stadium.
Chelsea were given a free kick by Alonso in the 24th minute.
However, Tottenham, who was the best side in many stages of the game, waited until the 82nd minute to equalize with Belgian substitute Mitchi Patchway, who scored a foul on Chelsea.
The hosts were unable to score at least a point. The last word was the Italian coach Antonio Conte, with Alonso scoring his second personal goal and his team two minutes before the end of the original time.
The Wembley is no good omen for Tottenham, having won only twice, drawn once and lost eight times in 11 games in various competitions. It was his first Sunday match in the league.
Tottenham also received their first loss under Argentine coach Mauricio Pocetino in a Premier League derby, winning nine and drawing four times.
The second stage ends Monday with Manchester City and Everton.
